Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools State finalist for Inclusivity Practices 2015
In 2015 we were nominated as one of 3 state finalists in the Education Queensland Showcase Award for Inclusive Practices. The submission showcased our Intensive Interaction program and the significant positive impacts of this pedagogy for our students’ and their families. While we just missed out on the main prize it was a wonderful evening and great recognition of the school's Intensive Interaction sector. Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools Regional winner for Community Partnerships
2014
Mount Ommaney Special School was awarded a regional showcase award for Excellence in Community Partnerships. The award was recognition for our drama program which is supported by a number of partnerships including The Song Room and Griffith Film School.
Intensive Interaction Institute certificate of commendation
The Intensive Interaction Institute, based in the UK, recently presented Mount Ommaney Special School with a Certificate of Commendation. Dr David Hewitt, the founder of Intensive Interaction, has visited our school in January 2014 and 2015.
This is an acknowledgement of the work done across the school and due recognition for all staff involved and we are proud to be a part of the institute's international network of establishments.
Drama program publications
Mount Ommaney Special School's partnership with The Song Room features in the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) publication Partnering for School Improvement (PDF, 4.15 MB) and has also been published in the International Journal for Cross-Disciplinary Subjects in Education.
NAB Schools First impact award 2011
The partnership between Mount Ommaney Special School and The Song Room was awarded a NAB Schools First impact award of $50,000. The award recognises the outstanding student learning outcomes achieved through our drama program.
