Welcome to the Mount Ommaney Special School Community, commonly referred to as “MOSS”. Our school was first opened in 1992. Mount Ommaney Special School provides educational programs for students aged between 5-18 years who meet the criteria for special school enrolment. The Mount Ommaney Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP) supports children from birth to 5 years who have been identified with high support needs in one or more of the following areas: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Impairment, Physical Impairment, Speech Language Impairment, Visual Impairment and Hearing Impairment.
In 2022, approximately 110 students will enrol into our school along with approximately 90 students attending our ECDP. Our students come from a large geographical area, essentially comprising of the South-West suburbs of Brisbane and the greater Ipswich region. Our vision is to provide engaging, differentiated curriculum and innovative, specialised teaching in partnership with families and the community in a safe and supportive environment.
Meeting the very diverse and complex needs of our learners requires our collective best. We value working with our families and community members as partners in the education of our students. It is through meaningful collaboration that we will be best equipped to meet the unique educational and specialised needs of the students in our care. At MOSS, we work closely with our school based therapists, nurses and coaching staff to ensure we meet the very unique needs of all of our learners.
We are a proud school that boasts a range of quality facilities including our library, accessible playgrounds, indoor heated pool and indoor gym areas. We encourage families to join us on appropriate Tuesday mornings for assembly. Assemblies acknowledge individual students through the provision of awards and student birthdays, as well as other matters significant to the school community.
