About Mount Ommaney ECDP
Mount Ommaney Special School hosts the Mount Ommaney Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP). The ECDP is a free early childhood intervention service provided by the Queensland Department of Education for children under 5 years who have been identified with significant support needs.
Who We Support
Our programs support children who have a diagnosed or suspected disability in one or more of the following areas:
• Autism spectrum disorder
• Intellectual disability
• Physical impairment
• Speech language impairment
• Vision impairment
• Hearing impairment
How We Support Your Child
At Mount Ommaney ECDP, we work in partnership with families to understand each child's strengths and areas of need. Our programs aim to support your child's development, wellbeing and participation in learning and the community.
Children accessing the ECDP may receive support through centre-based programs and/or outreach services, depending on their individual learning needs. Access to these supports is approved by the Department of Education Regional Office.
Outreach support can be provided in early childhood education and care settings and focuses on building parent, carer and educator confidence to support children's learning through planning, curriculum support and environmental adjustments.
All ECDP supports are approved for set periods of time and are regularly reviewed to ensure they continue to meet each child's needs.
Individual Program Plans
Every child accessing the ECDP has an Individual Program Plan developed in consultation with their family.
This plan outlines your child's strengths, learning goals, teaching focus and the adjustments that will be provided to help them access and participate in their early childhood education and care setting.
Working Together with Families
We value strong partnerships with families and support parents and carers to take the lead in decision-making for their child and family.
We also work closely with early childhood services and future schools to support a tailored transition into full-time schooling.
