As the Department of Education, Student Wellbeing Social Worker servicing Mount Ommaney Special School, my role is to partner with students, families/carers and all school staff to provide a strengths-based multi-tiered approach to support mental health, student wellbeing and engagement at school.
In my role I will be responding to the needs of the students and their families to provide evidence-based assessment and interventions including, psycho-social assessments, personal and family counselling and group work to identify early intervention and prevention opportunities.
I can facilitate internal and external referrals to services to support MOSS families, and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams to achieve best outcomes for students. I will advocate to build opportunities for student voice and participation, relating to culture and inclusion within the MOSS community.
I can support families navigate NDIS systems, link in with NDIS service providers and collect evidence for plan reviews.
My key role is to build strong partnerships with families and the school community to promote positive relationships.
I am at the MOSS on Wednesdays and Thursdays and can be contacted by phone on 0476 556 906 or email kkaru6@eq.edu.au
